Join the SLHS Webinars on Systems Thinking for Societal Impact!
The Swiss Learning Health System is happy to announce a new webinar series, "Systems Thinking for Societal Impact." This series will explore the power of systems thinking in addressing complex societal challenges, with sessions led by experts in the field. We warmly invite you to register for our upcoming online sessions:
I. Unraveling Complexities with Systems Thinking
Date: October 16, 2024
Time: 15:00 – 16:00
Join Carmen Sant Fruchtman (Swiss TPH) as she introduces the basics of systems thinking and explores how this approach can address the intricate and overlapping dynamics of societal challenges. Attendees will gain insights into understanding and navigating complexity, especially in contexts of inequity.
II. Mapping Connections: Participatory Approaches in a Social Network Analysis
Date: October 31, 2024
Time: 15:00 – 16:00
Dr. Salvador Camacho (Swiss TPH) will present participatory systems thinking approaches, highlighting the role of stakeholder engagement and community involvement. We will also explore social network analysis, which helps uncover relationships and patterns that influence system behaviors.
III. Common Biases in Systems Thinking
Date: November 13, 2024
Time: 15:00 – 16:00
Join Dr. Gianni Di Marco, Systems Thinking, Mapping & Leadership Researcher and Consultant, for an engaging session on identifying and addressing common biases in systems thinking. This webinar will explore how cognitive biases can impact our understanding of complex systems and decision-making. Attendees will learn practical strategies to recognize and mitigate these biases, enabling more accurate analysis and well-informed decisions in systems-focused work.
IV. Modeling System Dynamics: A Focus on Antimicrobial Resistance
Date: December 5th, 2024
Time: 15:00 – 16:00
Discover how system dynamics can be applied to create models that drive evidence-informed decision-making with Giulio Cisco, Research Fellow at Unisanté Centre for Primary Care and Public Health in Lausanne. This session will explore the application of system dynamics in the healthcare sector, with a focus on antimicrobial resistance.
In addition to the webinars, the University of Lucerne’s Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine will be offering an in-depth course on systems thinking and system dynamics. This course is ideal for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers who want to dive deeper into modeling for informed decision-making. For more information, please email: phd_health@unilu.ch.
