Policy Brief on Optimizing Clinical Practice Guideline Adherence in Primary Care
Clinical practice guidelines help translate medical evidence into actionable recommendations for healthcare professionals. They are essential for improving quality of care and ensuring consistency in treatment decisions.
Despite their proven benefits, adherence to these guidelines remains low - both globally and in Switzerland. While the reasons for this gap are well documented, solutions to close it have received far less attention.
In a recent stakeholder dialogue, representatives from various sectors collaboratively developed and refined three early-stage concepts aimed at increasing guideline use:
- GuidelineGPT: An AI chatbot to facilitate easy access to guidelines.
- SwissGPP: A program to promote guidelines within GP networks.
- GLANCE: A national service to unify and simplify guidelines for practical use.
These initiatives reflect a shared commitment to reducing barriers and integrating end-user perspectives. Read the full Policy Brief to learn more about the proposed solutions.
